Tip # 1 Dual Monitor

Two is always better than one and that is so true in having a dual monitor. It can make wonders. A second monitor can give you more space to share your screen. You can easily share the window or the application you want to be shown.

You can do a lot of things on a spare monitor while hosting the Zoom meeting. As a meeting host and you are sharing a screen, you can still monitor the chatbox and participants by opening it in a new window.

Tip # 2 Whiteboarding

For a more collaborative meeting, use the whiteboard screen sharing option. It’s like having a virtual board wherein the meeting participants can write, draw, type, and do a lot of other things.

Whiteboarding is best when you are planning or brainstorming. Everyone in the meeting gets to share their ideas.

Tip #3 Utilize the Sharing of Portion of Screen

You don’t want to accidentally share the apps and files on your desktop. The best solution is to share the portion or part of the screen you want to be shown.

If you only have a single monitor, this can be a great option. Click the share screen icon, go to the advance tab, and somewhere in the middle, you will see the option to share a portion of the screen.

When you choose this one, a green border will appear on your screen and you can adjust the size of the border depending on the area of the screen you want to show.

A secret hack on this especially if you are not the main host and at some point of the meeting you will be sharing your screen, open a Zoom meeting prior to joining the actual meeting, and set up the correct size and location of the green border.

Once you share the screen and choose the share portion of the screen in your next meeting, the green border will appear in the same spot where you left of.

Tip # 4 Share Sound

Don’t miss the fun by not sharing sound. When screen sharing whether basic or advanced, the share sound feature can be enabled.

This will add life to the meeting or webinar. After you click the share screen, tick the box for share sound in the bottom left and make sure to switch to stereo for the high fidelity of the sound.

You can also share the computer audio without actually sharing the screen. Select the computer audio in the advanced tab. Don’t forget to test the speaker you selected in the audio settings since this will be the source of the computer audio.

Tip # 5 Optimize Video

There are several ways to share videos in a Zoom meeting and webinar. The most common is to share the screen where the video is playing or share the video player.

When doing so, always tick the stereo option of the share sound feature and optimized video for a better video streaming experience. There is however a little concern on this since the video thumbnails will be visible to the participants and it’s a little messy to watch.

A better option is to select share video in the advance tab. The video thumbnails are minimized so as to show the full screen without any distractions on the screen. The video quality is also superb.

These 5 awesome tips can make a big difference in your next Zoom meeting and webinar. But wait, there’s more. We have 2 bonus tips for you.

Bonus Tip # 1 Play with the Slides/PowerPoint as Virtual Background

This is a fun way of sharing the slide deck or PowerPoint. It allows you to utilize a slideshow presentation as your virtual background.

Your camera will be seen on top of the slides and you can adjust the size of the camera as well as move it anywhere on the screen depending on your preference.

Once you’re all set up, you can start presenting and just click next or previous to go over the slides. To enable this feature, go to the advance tab in the screen sharing option and you’ll find the option to share Slides/ PowerPoint as Virtual Background.

Bonus Tip # 2 Share Your Screen to Breakout Rooms

Yes, you can now share your screen from the main room to the breakout rooms. This is a pretty new option in the share screen feature of Zoom.

Take note only the screen or visual information can be shared. The sound is not included. This is ideal when you facilitate a workshop and have instructions for the participants while they are in the breakout rooms.

To utilize this feature, open first the breakout rooms and click the screen share. In the new window that appears, you will see the option to share to breakout rooms at the bottom. Tick that option, choose the screen you want to show, and click share. Voilà, your screen is now shared in the breakout rooms.
